Try to make as many backlinks as possible, but make sure that all these backlinks must be from high PR website and relevant topic. If you get a backlink from a high PR website but totally off topic then it is not relavant backlink , if you get a backlink from a zero PR website but that website's topic is related to your website then it is more good. So try to get backlinks from relavant and high PR website.
Put as much good content on your website as you can, but make sure all this content must be unique, qualitative and useful to users as well. Good content determines how longer a visitor stay on your website, longer a stay better is your website, and Google counts this thing.
Try to keep your web page downloading time as minimum as possible for the greater user experience, if users are happy with your website than Google will also happy with your website, it is true.
Target most relevant keywords for your website in order to get organic traffic as if the keywords are relavant to your website then it is good for your website as well.
